What you need:
Chicken pieces, butter, cooking oil, onions, cardamom, cloves, star anise, tomatoes cut into small pieces, slit green chillies, salt, curd (1 cup), basmati rice, garam masala, coriander powder, Biriyani powder, onion garlic paste, mint leaves, potatoes (if u like)
First prepare some fried onions for garnishing. Keep it aside.
Take a pressure cooker. Put some butter. Add some oil to it so that the butter doesn’t get completely burnt. Add onions, once they turn brown add some cardamom, cloves, star anise. Then put the tomatoes in it. Add some green chillies slit properly. Put the onion garlic paste and mix it properly. Add salt to taste. Add the chicken pieces. Mix it properly and put the lid. Cook in low flame for one whistle.
After one whistle open the lid, add the washed basmati rice, add about one cup curd. Add garam masala, coriander powder and good amount of Biriyani powder. Mix all of them properly. Add some mint leaves. Add some potatoes (if you like it). Add water for the rice to cook. Mix it well and put the lid again. Cook it in low flame again for one whistle. After one whistle turn off the gas but don’t open the pressure cooker. The rice will get cooked in that pressure.
Open the lid. Mix it well and garnish with the fried onions. Eat it with mirchi ka Salan.
